The Scheme of Consumer Helpline has been initiated by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Department of Consumer Affairs, and Government of India in 2002 under the campaign “Jago Grahak Jago”. In accordance with the directions and guidance of the Govt. of India, the Haryana State Govt. had also setup the State Consumer Helpline at the headquarters of Food and Supplies Department, Haryana, Chandigarh. The State Consumer Helpline has come into existence w.e.f 12th August 2013. Its Toll Free No. is 1800-180-2087 / 1967 / 14445 / 1800-180-2405 and it is open on all working days from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Consumers from all over the Haryana can dial Toll-free number 1800-180-2087 / 1967 / 14445 / 1800-180-2405 to seek telephonic counseling for the redressal of their problems that they face as consumers.
Consumer Helpline is based on a centralized IT based application system developed by Department of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of India and hosted at IIPA (Indian Institute of Public Administration), New Delhi. The Staff of Helpline has been given an intensive training to handle their job by IIPA, New Delhi.
On receipt of complaint, a docket no. is issued to each call to follow up the case later. In some of the cases consumer is advised by the Helpline regarding what appropriate action is to be taken by him further, while in other cases the Helpline step-in and take up the matter with the service provider which may be Private or Government.
